page........ MMS is Not the Internet
Technology is
growing at such a rapid pace that we are lagging in trying to keep pace
on all fronts. As a former Information Services Professional, I have
seen tremendous changes since I first entered that industry in the
middle 60’s. In my opinion the development of the digital technology
has opened the gates for the greatest strides in advancements.

The development of the internet has indeed provided tremendous access to information which in the past would have been difficult to achieve otherwise. At the same time it opened the flood gates to piracy of copyrighted materials. We are all acutely aware of the many companies which have been shuttered by various government entities. But P2P file sharing is still available. There in lies the problem, for as long as copyrighted material can be converted to digital formats it can be shared multiple times without any degradation in quality. The internet service providers (ISP’s) have positioned themselves as “dumb” pipelines and cannot (under government sanctioned regulations) be responsible for what travels over their networks. There is a need for major change in the way data and copyrighted material is handled over the internet, but that is not the battle we want to fight at this juncture. Our focus is on the wireless networks. These networks are rapidly becoming more robust. As a managing member of LuvDarts LLC, two years ago we were only able to transmit 29sec multimedia messages (mms.) Lately we have been able to share mms up to 2 mins in length. As this capability grows we can project in the foreseeable future and with the advent of smarter networks mms will have the capacity to rival file sharing on the internet. Well, this is the essence of Global Data Revenue, Inc.’s stance with its members. We cannot allow the wireless industry to foster P2P file sharing. MMS is not the internet.
